Eligibility

Among Friends Adult Day Center (ADC) is a social-model day center that provides supplemental care and support for older adults during daytime hours. Our program is designed to promote safety, dignity, engagement, and social connection while offering families and caregivers peace of mind.

Among Friends ADC provides structured daytime care and supervision Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., excluding holiday closures.

Admission Criteria

The following guidelines outline eligibility for membership :

Applicants must meet all four of the following standard qualifications:

  1. Are 50 years of age or older

  2. Display behaviors that are manageable in a group setting

  3. Live at home or with other caregivers

  4. Are ambulatory or require minimal assistance (canes, walkers, and wheelchairs are acceptable)

In addition, applicants must require assistance with one or more of the following:

  • Activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)

  • Health monitoring and supervision

  • Memory loss or cognitive impairments that interfere with ADLs

  • Physical limitations that interfere with ADLs

  • Overcoming isolation associated with functional limitations

  • Other age-related conditions

Exclusion Criteria

While our priority at Among Friends is always to support individuals and families in need, it is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of all members, staff, and visitors. Individuals may not be eligible for participation if they meet any of the following exclusion criteria:

  • History of physical abuse toward others

  • History of sexual abuse toward others

  • History of emotional abuse toward others

  • History of violence toward others

  • Currently displaying aggressive behavior

  • Current alcohol dependence

  • Current chemical dependence

  • Currently has a communicable disease such as Influenza, COVID-19, Tuberculosis, Norovirus, Measles, Chickenpox

  • Has a condition that requires a level of care beyond the scope of services provided by a social-model adult day center
